New demo available
Acting on last year’s resolution Kyoku and Harlock took time to record a showcase of current game features. It has been two years, so they decided to begin with a recap of two previous videos with an eye to how the prototype is now different.
In the latter part of the video you can observe demonstration of combat system used in PvP mode, see how backgrounds and resource nodes have changed. However, the most prominent visual change is the interface which has been strongly influenced by certain famous system. We owe a lot of gratitude to Michael Okuda for such timeless design.
Moving towards combat scripting
Meanwhile work continues on technical and rules level to have usable combat scripting system which can describe how both player and non-player characters act in offline encounters. As you have seen in the demo, there are quite some options available in combat each round and wise choice may decide between victory or defeat. Scripting possibilities need to be both robust enough for complex strategies and simple enough for ease of use. These goals are partly at odds with each other, requiring us to carefully balance between them. If everything goes well we might be able to show how the system works in March.
